Intended Audience
This Security Officer Top-Up course is for learners who currently hold a Security Officers license from the Security Industry Authority (SIA) and wish to continue working as a security officer
Pre-requisites
- Have an in-date SIA Door Security Officers Licence
- Hold an in-date HSE-complaint First Aid Certificate – Valid for at least 12 months
- Sufficient English speaking and literacy skills
- Have no criminal record
- Proof of ID & residency
Course Overview
SIA Security Officer Top-Up course for Security Guards and Security Officers is designed to keep your skills up to date with the needs of the modern security industry.
It’s not just a skill refresher course. The changes to security work introduced to SIA Licensing in April 2021 are mandatory qualifications that all security professionals now need to have. Security Guards, therefore, need to take Top-Up Training before renewing their SIA Licence.
The SIA have introduced that anyone wishing to attend a Security Officer Top-Up must now have a valid First Aid qualification with at least 12 months validity left when attending.

- Terror threats and the role of the security operative in the event of a threat
- Minimising risk to personal safety
- Actions to take concerning global (or critical) incidents
Assessment Term
Two multiple-choice exams and a trainer observation
