Course Information
Intended Audience
This qualification is designed for learners who currently hold a licence from the Security Industry Authority (SIA) to work as a door supervisor and need to be brought up to date with the new licence-linked qualification requirements.
Pre-requisites
- Be 18 years or older
- Hold an HSE-complaint First Aid Certificate – Valid for at least 12 months
- Sufficient English speaking and literacy skills
- Have no criminal record
- Proof of ID & residence
Course Overview
The Highfield Level 2 Award for Security Officers in the Private Security Industry (Refresher) has been developed for learners who currently hold a licence from the Security Industry Authority (SIA) to work as a security officer and need to be brought up to date with the new licence-linked qualifications requirements.
To complete this qualification learners are expected to undertake approximately 9 hours of learning.
Course Syllabus
Topics include:
- terror threats and the role of the security operative in the event of a threat
- actions to take in relation to global (or critical incidents
- physical interventions and the implications of their use
- how to reduce the risks associated with physical intervention
- how to conduct effective search procedures
- factors that can make someone vulnerable
- understanding a security operatives duty of care with regard to vulnerable people
- safeguarding techniques in relation to spiking
Assessment Term
This qualification is assessed by multiple choice examinations and practical demonstrations
