In May 2014 the Security Industry Authority (SIA) were undertaking a review of their specifications for learning and qualifications, which would result in updated security qualifications becoming available from January 2015.

This review included a public consultation of the updated specifications, which they encouraged all Approved Training Centres delivering security qualifications to take part in.

This review has now concluded and awarding bodies are working alongside the SIA, and other SIA endorsed awarding organisations, to rewrite the licence-linked units. These units will make up the revised security qualifications which will be introduced as a direct result of the review.

Based on this upcoming revision of licence-linked qualifications, we would like to take this opportunity to provide you with further details of the withdrawal and replacement of the SIA Licensed linked qualifications listed below.

HABC Level 2 Award in CCTV Operations (Public Space Surveillance) (QCF)

HABC Level 2 Award in Door Supervision (QCF)

HABC Level 2 Award in Security Guarding (QCF)

HABC Level 2 Certificate in Principles of Providing Security Services (QCF)

HABC Level 2 Award for Upskilling Door Supervisors (QCF)

HABC Level 3 Certificate in Close Protection (QCF)

Registration end date                             31/12/14

Certification end date                             31/03/15

These qualifications will be withdrawn as of 31 December 2014, which means that learner registrations cannot be made after this date. These qualifications will be replaced by the NEW revised and updated qualifications, which will be available on 01 January 2015.
