On 6/3/2012 the SIA announced they would be introducing regulations which will mean that existing door supervisors, who have done the pre-QCF Door Supervision qualifications (the old 2 unit qualification), would need to undertake additional training in order to renew their Door Supervisor licences.

It is believed that the SIA will shortly announce that this will become mandatory in December 2012.There is no change to the Level 2 Award in Door Supervision (QCF) qualification, & this will not affect a door supervisor who as achieved the QCF Door Supervision qualification to apply for their SIA licence.

PROSEC will, in the very near future, be launching the Level 2 Award in Upskilling Door Supervisors (QCF) in order to meet the SIA’s new criteria.

Full details on this course are expected by the latest Mid July 2012, and PROSEC will be one of the first training providers in the UK to begin delivering this course

This new qualification will consist of 2 units:

First Aid Awareness

Counter Terrorism

Dealing with children & young people

The Safety Awareness unit is effectively a distance learning unit which will take the form of a workbook. It is anticipated that the candidate will complete the workbook in their own time prior to attending a 1-day PI course. The candidate will also take the exam for the Safety Awareness unit on the day they attend the PI training.

Candidate Requirements (still to be confirmed)

In order to take this qualification, a candidate will need to prove that they have an SIA Door Supervision licence that cannot have expired more than 3 years prior to the date they take the Upskilling course.

Any candidate taking this new qualification will need to provide a correctly completed ID Validation sheet so that signature & photo details can be uploaded to the SIA.

PROSEC will be providing extra courses in order to deal with the expected demand.
